'Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers ~ strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.' Barbara Katz Rothman
What is Hypnobirthing? Hypnobirthing is a funny name for it really because it makes it sound hocus pocus and something it isn't. It should really be called mindful or intuitive birthing because you are choosing to give birth to your baby in a very relaxed, trusting and open way. What you learn on a course are relaxation and visualisation skills as well as antenatal information that will change your perspective about labour and birth; helping you to increase self trust, positivity and confidence and remove the anxieties and fears that stand between you and birthing your baby. I want to give you the skills you need to feel empowered to make the right choices for you and your family.
Hypnobirthing teaches you to relax deeply during pregnancy, so you can deepen it further during your labour and birth. You will learn that birthing is a natural physiological experience, your body is going to birth your baby but with the right support you will learn how to get 'you' out of the way so that your baby can come through. With daily practice of the relaxation techniques you can focus more easily on having the birth experience you want.
It also doesn't matter if you want to birth at home to the beat of a drum or in hospital with all the drugs, I am here to support you in your choices and cheerlead you along your path to motherhood.
It is completely normal to feel anxious and scared as you approach the birth of your baby. You are not alone! And that's why I'm here. When you attend a course with me you will find that Hypnobirthing techniques will really help your mind and body to work as one. You are always in control, you always have a choice and as long as you practice the techniques you learn regularly, you should remain relaxed, confidentand present throughout your labour and birth. And even if there is a fork in the road and you have to follow plan B or even C, Hypnobirthing WILL help you.
For mothers that have experienced it, they will tell you it is a wonderful way to give birth and you will acquire skills that will help you and your family for the rest of your life. Hypno-babies tend to be very chilled out souls too, so it's a win win! See Birth stories for some lovely testimonials about how Hypnobirthing helped parents with their birthing experiences; whether that be vaginally or via a natural c-section Hypnobirthing just works!
Who is Hypnobirthing for?
Hypnobirthing is for any woman who would like to remain calm and in control during her birth experience, whatever route that journey might take. The aim of Hypnobirthing is for you to have an EMPOWERING birth experience.
Whether you are feeling anxious from never giving birth before or nervous from a previous birth experience I am here to help you learn the skills to manage your anxieties and feel confident, focused and positive with the choices you make and your new birth journey ahead. Maybe you are a first time mum who has heard about the benefits of Hypnobirthing and would like to give deep relaxation a try to manage your labour instead of alternative pain relief. Or this could be a subsequent birth and you would like to have a different experience. Some mums choose to try Hypnobirthing techniques after a C-section, this is called a VBAC (Vaginal birth after c-section) or you could even use Hypnobirthing techniques if you are choosing to have a C-section. The breathing you learn in the course can really help you to keep calm and relaxed during surgery and there have been reports of quicker healing time after applying Hypnobirthing techniques to a C-section birth.
I also offer support around natural C-sections if that is the birthing route you would like to take. Hypnobirthing really can support all birthing mothers no matter what your circumstances.
